The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga is currently checking out the Fernie 2 Group Hall in Mpuluzi to render companies to the community.
SASSA will likely be rendering providers including new social grant applications, change of payment method, consumer care enquiries, together with the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) COVID-19 grant enquiries.
In an announcement, the agency reported it's alarmed in regards to the higher number of people depending on social grants for survival.
“The purpose in the Integrated Registration Outreach Programme [ICROP] website is to reach-out to a high amount of clients/beneficiaries to access SASSA services.
“That is due to lack of infrastructure at Fernie and there is no fully functional office devoted to service the area daily. The support issue designed for intervention experiences a significant influx of likely beneficiaries, that makes it tough for your office to attend to all people who take a look at a service point.
“In this reach-out programme, SASSA will mobilise more resources to enable the servicing of all clients and maximize use of Social Assistance providers,” the agency said.
